What’s In a Name?

The Council in its wisdom, yet devoid of some discreet,
When designating accesses baptised one “Woodhams Street”.
Now while my father, (secretly) might swell his chest with pride,
This street is not the kind of place with pleasure to reside.
No avenue with lines of trees or flowers for one to tend,
In fact like many streets today this one is a dead end.
You see it goes to nowhere, so nowhere will it reach,
And yet it bears the family name, so, who am I to preach.

R.A. Woodhams 1992
